The Bobcat Trail 4 is the mid-level bike in Marin's Bobcat range, and the point at which the hardtail stops being an entry-level machine and starts being a proper trail bike.
The Series 2 6061 aluminium frame has a low standover for confidence on technical ground, and an SR Suntour XCM HLO-DS up front delivers 120mm of travel with hydraulic lockout — more travel than most hardtails at this level, and lockable for climbs and road sections.
The drivetrain is a clean 1x10 Shimano CUES setup with a clutch rear derailleur and a wide 11-48 cassette on a 32T narrow-wide chainring. The clutch keeps the chain quiet and stops it bouncing off over rough ground; the narrow-wide ring does the same job from the front. Tektro M280 hydraulic discs with a 180mm front rotor give serious stopping power.
Wheels are Marin's own double-wall alloy with a 25mm inner width, wrapped in 2.4in tubeless-compatible Delium tyres — wide enough to run low pressures for grip. A 780mm riser bar and short 45mm stem give modern, stable trail handling. This one is the 29in wheel, Medium frame in Tan.
