The DSX is Marin's answer to a question a lot of riders actually have: what if a gravel bike had flat bars? It takes gravel geometry, clearance and gearing, and pairs them with a riser bar and MTB controls — so you get the speed and range of a drop-bar bike with a position that feels natural if you have come from mountain biking.
The DSX 1 is the higher-spec build. The Series 3 6061 aluminium frame has a tapered head tube, internal cable routing and 142x12mm thru-axle, and it is paired with a full carbon fork — lighter and noticeably stiffer than the alloy-forked base model, and a real improvement in how the front end tracks on loose surfaces. Mudguard and rack mounts mean it commutes as happily as it explores.
The drivetrain is a 1x10 Shimano CUES with a clutch derailleur and a wide 11-48 cassette on a 42T narrow-wide ring — tall enough to keep pedalling on tarmac, low enough for loose climbs, and quiet over rough ground. Tektro HD-R285 flat-mount hydraulics handle braking.
Wheels run WTB Riddler 700x45mm tyres on 21mm-inner alloy rims — genuinely wide, fast on hardpack and grippy on gravel. This one is the Medium frame in grey.
