The Four Corners is a steel touring and bikepacking bike — built for the midweek commute and the weekend that turns into three days.
Both frame and fork are butted 4130 chromoly. Steel is the traditional choice for loaded touring for good reasons: it carries weight without the ride turning harsh, it flexes enough to stay comfortable at the end of a long day, and it can be repaired almost anywhere in the world. There are six bottle mounts, plus rack and fender eyelets front and rear, so it will carry a genuine load rather than a token one.
Gearing is Shimano Sora, 2x9 across a 50/34 compact and an 11-34 cassette — 18 gears with a low enough bottom end to climb with panniers on. Tektro Spyre-C mechanical discs give predictable braking with a loaded bike, and being cable-actuated they can be adjusted at the roadside with a multitool.
Marin size the wheels to the frame: this XS runs 650B wheels on 40mm Vee Tire GPVee rubber, with clearance out to 45mm. The compact 16-degree flared drop bar gives extra control on descents and loose surfaces. Finished in black.
