The San Rafael DS2 is the dual sport bike a step above the DS1, and the upgrades are the ones you actually feel every ride — hydraulic brakes, a lockout fork, and an extra gear at the back.
The frame is the same well-judged Series 2 Dual Sport 6061 aluminium with 700C wheels, but the fork is now an SR Suntour NEX Disc HLO with hydraulic lockout. That means you can firm the fork up solid for road sections and open it again for rough paths, instead of losing energy to suspension bob on every commute.
Braking moves to Tektro HD-M275 hydraulics with 160mm rotors — far lighter at the lever than cable discs, and much more controlled on a loaded descent. The drivetrain is Shimano Acera 2x8 with RapidFire Plus shifters, giving 16 gears from a 46/30 crank and an 11-34 cassette.
Vee Tire Rail 700x40mm tyres handle paved paths and dirt doubletrack equally well, and an alloy riser bar keeps the position upright and comfortable in traffic. Built for riders exploring mixed surfaces, rail trails and everything between road and light off-road.
